Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Gets A Modern Remaster This Year

Capcom has announced that Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is being remastered for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. The remaster is due out sometime in 2025.

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny follows Jubei Yagyu as he fights against a demon army led by Nobunaga Oda. After Nobunaga’s army slaughtered the Yagyu clan, Jubei is now on a quest for revenge. Along the way, Jubei meets others with similar goals and learns more about his oni heritage, which gives him powers to defeat Nobunaga’s demons.

The game was first released for PS2 in 2002, and it’s the second entry in the series to get a modern remaster. Back in 2018, Capcom remastered the first game in the series, Onimusha: Warlords.

Capcom is currently working on the first new mainline entry in the series since 2006, titled Onimusha: Way of the Sword. While its platforms haven’t been revealed yet, the game is slated to release sometime in 2026.

Producer Akihito Kadokwaki also recently provided some new info about the game, saying that it will focus on three core aspects. They include creating compelling characters, bringing the Kyoto setting to life, and delivering “the ultimate swordfighting action.”
