Monster Hunter Wilds surpasses 8 million units sold in just three days, becoming Capcom’s fastest-selling game of all time.

Capcom, one of the few remaining publishers eager to share hard sales data of their games, has announced that the Monster Hunter Wilds launch has broken records. The action game has so far sold more than 8 million copies in just three days.

This is the fastest any game has reached that figure in Capcom’s history.

The 8 million milestone was announced in a press release this morning. Although Capcom didn’t specify, given the language – the figure likely represents copies sold to consumers across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox – not merely shipped to retailers

Before Wilds, Monster Hunter World was Capcom’s largest-ever release – somewhat unexpectedly. The Monster Hunter Series had, for the longest time, been considered niche; impenetrable by most casual audiences. Given this flying start, Wilds could very well overtake World as the biggest-seller in the series soon.

Of course, if you’ve been keeping up with the game’s performance on Steam on PC, this news wouldn’t be a surprise. Wilds has more than quadrupled World’s peak concurrent players on the PC platform, reaching 1,384,608 players at one point. It has already become one of Steam’s biggest launches ever, and one of its most popular games.

And, if you’re keeping track, today’s news now means the Monster Hunter Series as a whole has made over 108 million sales since its inception. It’s all very good news for Capcom, which has turned the series into a global hit that surpassed even titans like Resident Evil, and Street Fighter.

If you’re among the millions who jumped into Wilds, there’s a whole lot the game does not teach you. We’ve prepared a host of Monster Hunter Wilds guides that will help you find crafting resources, locate Endemic Life, understand obscure mechanics, create builds, and much more.
