This Expansive New Alien Graphic Novel Reimagines One of the Franchise’s Most Haunting Narratives

The Alien franchise is best known for its numerous films, but the sci-fi horror property also spans video games, books, and graphic novels. Soon, one of the best comic runs, Alien: Galaxy of Nightmares, is getting a chunky new paperback omnibus edition on June 9. The collection will compile 19 issues written by Eisner Award-nominated author Phillip Kennedy Johnson, and fans can preorder it now for $45 at Amazon.

If you don’t want to wait for the Alien: Galaxy of Nightmares collection, you can also pick up Phillip Kennedy Johnson’s runs in individual trade editions. Volume 1: Bloodlines is available in a physical paperback edition for $18, while Volume 3: Icarus is $15 (was $18). Physical copies of Volume 2: Revival are hard to find, but you can pick up a Kindle version for $11 (was $13). Picking up all three will be more expensive than the upcoming Galaxy of Nightmares collection edition listed above, but the upshot is they’re available now.

Marvel also has also given the Alien franchise its own “What If…?” series. Similar to the Marvel Universe “What If…?” series, this trade paperback takes a look at several pivotal moments in the Alien movies and ponders how the story would have played out differently. You can grab the Aliens: What If…? trade paperback edition for $15.30 (was $18)

While Marvel currently publishes the Alien comics series, some of the best comics in this grim sci-fi universe were published by Dark Horse, and quite a few of them are on sale right now. Our recommendations would be The Original Years collection, which includes dozens of issues from the ’80s and ’90s Dark Horse series. Volume One is on sale for $23 (was $40) and you can pick up Volume Two for $28 (was $45).

Alien Graphic Novels

It’s hard to believe, but the Alien film series is now up to seven entries. If you’re looking to catch up, you can grab Blu-rays of the full series at Amazon and Walmart. There’s a six-film Blu-ray collection that includes Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, Prometheus, and Alien: Covenant for $25 (was $50). If you pair that with the Alien: Romulus Steelbook Edition, then you’ll have the full series on your shelf.

Standalone versions of several Alien films are also available, including a slick 4K Collector’s Editions of Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking original Alien for $24.89 and James Cameron’s action-packed sequel, Aliens, for $25 (was $35). Check out all the Alien series Blu-ray deals below.

If you’re interested in going behind the scenes on the series, there’s also a wealth of books dedicated to the creation of this gruesome galaxy. You can pick up books focused specifically on the making of Alien and Aliens, an ultimate guide to the movie franchise, and beautiful art books inspired by Alien: Covenant and the rest of the franchise. On the video game side, books like The Art of Alien Isolation and Perfect Organism: An Alien Isolation Companion are also recommended reading.
