If you’ve never seen Shrek, the first film in the series got the ball rolling when it introduced the title character. A grumpy–and very green–ogre wanting to be left alone, Shrek finds his beloved swamp overrun with deported characters and creatures from famous fairy tale fables. The only way for him to reclaim his land is to embark on a dangerous quest to rescue a princess who is pining for her beloved Prince Charming. Along the way, Shrek begrudgingly befriends the motor-mouthed donkey.

The movie did pretty well at the box office, and it featured an impressive cast of actors in various roles. Putting a comedic spin on old-school fairy tales and incorporating modern music into its story, Shrek’s adventure evolved into a film franchise full of sequels and spin-offs.

To complete the collection, you can also grab both of the Puss in Boots movies–The Last Wish is especially good–as these have been discounted by almost 50%.
