Backyard Baseball is coming to mobile, and it won’t have ads. That’s according to posts from the game’s official social media account, which point to some kind of announcement on March 27.
The official Backyard Sports account said, “If you’re reading this, Backyard Sports is coming to mobile.” A follow-up post confirmed that Backyard Baseball specifically is coming to mobile. And another post said the upcoming release will have “no ads.”
In August 2024, Playground Productions announced that the Backyard Sports brand was coming back after many years away. The kid-friendly sports series was popular from 1999 to 2015, and now it’s attempting a comeback that began with remasters of Backyard Baseball ’97 and Backyard Soccer ’98 in 2024.
The March 27 date for the Backyard Baseball announcement is likely tied to the start of the new MLB season. While the Dodgers and Cubs will play games in Tokyo to officially kick off the season on March 18 and March 19, the MLB’s 26 other teams will begin their seasons on the traditional opening day on Thursday, March 27.
If you’re looking for the officially licensed MLB game, Sony’s MLB The Show 25 officially releases on March 18, but the more expensive edition is available now in early access. Whereas the previous three games were included with Game Pass, MLB The Show 25 is not, nor is it available on last-gen systems.
