Updated Version of The Last of Us Part 2 Introduces New Features While Facing Technical Problems


The 2.0.0 recent patch for The Last of Us Part II Remastered has finally added some new content for the roguelike No Return mode, but it has caused an issue in the single-player campaign.

Sony is aware of and is currently addressing an issue where players have reported that additional weapon holsters and purchased skills disappear after the patch was applied. This problem seems to be secluded to the single-player campaign.

As for the new content, Bill and Marlene have been added as new playable characters. Four new maps are included as well: School, Nest, Streets, and Overlook. There are also new No Return Trophies for players to unlock, and a cosmetic skin for Ellie where she dawns on the jacket of Jordan A. Mun, the protagonist for Naughty Dog’s next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

There are also some bug fixes that came with the patch. Previously, there was an issue where the Speedrun Mode timer would revert back to the most recent checkpoint if the player manually closed the game or if the game crashed. In No Return, there was a problem where Manny would lose 50 HP when he activated the Momentum ability.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is now available on PS5, as well as PC as of this week. Make sure to check out the game’s specs on PC to see if your setup can run it.

Known Issue: We are aware of and investigating a known issue regarding additional weapon holsters and purchased skills disappearing after updating to Patch 2.0.0. At this time, we suggest players refrain from overwriting any of their existing manual saves.

General

  • [PlayStation 5 Pro] Fixed an issue where some glass textures and reflections could appear sharper in Pro mode than intended
  • [PlayStation 5 Pro] Fixed an issue where the Depth of Field could appear deeper on Pro mode than intended
  • Fixed an issue where the Semi-Auto Pistol would only display its default grip when holstered
  • Fixed an issue where certain lighting effects could appear distorted at higher framerates

Gameplay

  • Fixed an issue where the Speedrun Mode timer would revert to the most recent checkpoint if the player manually closed the game or a crash occurred
  • Fixed an issue where players would be unable to use their short guns while using an enemy as a shield under certain conditions
  • Fixed an issue where enemies using melee weapons would not pursue the player if the player was standing on certain platforms or objects

No Return

  • Adjusted the activation conditions of select Gambits
  • Fixed an issue where Manny would lose 50 health points when activating the ‘Momentum’ ability

Localization

  • Various minor localization fixes across multiple languages
  • Various minor Text-to-Speech fixes across multiple languages
