Activision is taking strict action against Call of Duty players exploiting camo cheats.

Call of Duty’s Ricochet anti-cheat team is cracking down on those who have earned gun camos through ill-gotten means in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone, issuing temporary bans and even removing dishonorably obtained skins mid-match.

In a post from the official Call of Duty Updates X account, the Ricochet anti-cheat team made clear that using exploits or “unauthorized methods,” such as external tools, violates the game’s security and enforcement policy and will result in temporary bans.

“Any attempt to unlock or equip camos through exploits or unauthorized methods will result in account enforcement,” team Ricochet stated.

Ricochet, which is also the name of the anti-cheat tech in Call of Duty itself, appears to mean business. A post from Call of Duty news aggregator CharlieIntel shows the latest update to Ricochet can detect illegal weapon camos mid-match and remove them.

Team Ricochet further reminded players not to trust websites or offers selling COD points, cosmetic items, or leveling and progression services, as they violate the game’s terms of service and can lead to a compromised game account. A number of Call of Duty cheat providers were recently reported to have shut down after receiving cease-and-desist letters from Activision.

The Ricochet updates and further action against cheaters comes ahead of Black Ops 6’s Season 3 update and a major refresh for Call of Duty: Warzone that will see the free-to-play battle royale’s original map, Verdansk, return. Black Ops 6 Season 3 will include a Jay and Silent Bob event, new weapons and maps, and more. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Warzone will be offline and unplayable for 24 hours prior to the Verdansk update on April 3. Activision is giving away a free weapon in exchange for the downtime.
