Katana Zero developer Askiisoft has revealed that its DLC is still in the works and is still free–even if it has been six years since the game’s release.
As a part of the Triple-I Initiative showcase, Askiisoft released a brand new gameplay trailer. While it’s light on details, there seems to be something, or someone, involved called the Seventh Angel. Despite the DLC being free, fans are commenting that they’d happily pay for it since its development has taken so long. So far, there’s still no release date for the DLC.
The last update about the DLC was back in March 2021, when the developer said that its initial scope grew six-fold, making it less like DLC and more like Katana Zero 1.5. Limited Run Games even announced plans for a physical copy of the game back in 2020, but those haven’t come to fruition yet.
Meanwhile, Askiisoft was simultaneously working on a new mobile game called Pocket Squirrel, which was described as like “Pokemon meets Animal Crossing” that also has roguelike RPG dungeon crawler elements. However, no updates have given since 2021.
Katana Zero is available on PC, Switch, Xbox, iOS, and Android. There’s no PlayStation version and there’s no indication that it’ll arrive on PS4 or PS5 any time soon.
In GameSpot’s Katana Zero review, we said, “Katana Zero is bloody and brutal, but it’s also a heartfelt tale that you shouldn’t overlook lightly.”
