Massive news for older Nintendo fans! Classic GameCube games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, via an expansion pack to the Nintendo Switch Online service. It’ll kick off with The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, as well as Soul Calibur 2 and F-Zero GX.
Games brought to the Switch 2 with multiplayer will have online functionality, so you can play them with folks around the world. In addition, these games will be getting some visual enhancements and higher resolutions, so they’ll be better looking than ever.
Other titles will be coming to the Switch 2 in the future as part of this expansion to the Switch Online service, including:
- Super Mario Sunshine
- Fire Emblem Path of Radiance
- Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness
- Super Mario Strikers
- Chibi Robo
- Luigi’s Mansion
- Pokemon Colosseum
There’s no word on when that extended list will be hitting the Switch 2, but the initial three revealed today (The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, as well as Soul Calibur 2 and F-Zero GX) will be coming to the Switch two on the console launch: June 5.
As for that new GameCube controller, the Direct presentation notes it’ll be available to Nintendo Switch Online Members, so those of you slamming pads in Melee tournaments all these years later will have to sign up to get a new one.
