Ember rufflizards are a kind of endemic life in Monster Hunter Wilds. You’ll need to capture them as part of a side quest, “Dareel’s Research Report (Cont.),” for Dareel at the Windward Plains base camp.
This is third side quest in Dareel and Samin’s ongoing feud — you’ve already caught a tracktail lizard and a dapperwing. Now, you need an ember rufflizard.
Our Monster Hunter Wilds guide will tell you where to find ember rufflizards and how to catch them.
Where to find ember rufflizards in Monster Hunter Wilds
To find ember rufflizards, you’ll have to head to the Oilwell Basin. Ember rufflizards like to be near lava, so you’ll need to look in some of the lower areas of the basin where there’s, you know, lava.
Area 15 is a good place to start. There aren’t any pop-up camps down there, but there is a lava vent you can set as your waypoint.
Once there, ember rufflizards are pretty easy to spot. Their neon green coloration stands out pretty well against the red lava.
How to catch an ember rufflizard in Monster Hunter Wilds
Once you’ve spotted an ember rufflizard, all that’s left is to catch them. Equip your capture net either from the item bar or from your Essential Items radial menu.
With the new rectangle reticle, approach the lizards slowly until the reticle turns yellow-orange and fire it. Just make sure you hit L2/LT and not the usual square/X.
With the quest complete, you’ll can pick up another side quest, “Samin’s Research Report (Cont.),” which has you track down a rime beetle.
