If you’re like me, you’ve spent 90% of your waking hours since you learned that Baldur’s Village – the Stardew Valley mod which adds a town full of Baldur’s Gate 3 characters to the chill farming game – had come out wondering one thing. How its upcoming Halsin romance might handle the base game’s beary bits. Here’s an update.
Yep, VG247 has reached out to the main developer on the team which has brought Baldur’s Village to life and earned a thumbs up from Larian’s Swen Vincke in the process, armed with a key question about bear sex and whether the mod will let you shag a big furry boi like BG3 does (or at least reference it in some way).
Thankfully, modder XunHe1145 was willing to humour us, and provided the following answer:
“As for Halsin’s romance arc, while we haven’t finalized all the details yet, we can say for certain that Halsin will stay true to his character. Our goal is to balance giving players the elements they’re excited to see while ensuring the storyline fits naturally within Stardew Valley’s tone and mechanics.
“It’s something we’re approaching with care,” they added, “and we’re looking forward to sharing more as development progresses.”
So, we’ll just have to see, but that doesn’t sound to me like it totally rules out at least some bear-based shenanigans. As for how long you’ll be waiting to see if you can make a grizzly groan in Baldur’s Village, this is also up in the air right now, but we do at least know that it’s the “next focus” the mod’s team has.
Until then, you can romance Astarion in the version of the mod that’s currently on Nexus Mods. So, maybe treat that like a dress rehearsal for the encounter with Halsin you’ll be having in future, provided Baldur’s Village gets the support its team is hoping for, and doesn’t run into any issues with “piracy, unauthorized reuploads, or reselling of the mod”.
