Donkey Kong ‘94 Finally Arrives on Nintendo Switch Online

Mario’s Picross was released on Game Boy a year later, in 1995; it certainly hasn’t been as well regarded as Donkey Kong ‘94 over the years, but saw success when it launched, spawning two more sequels in Japan: Mario’s Super Picross and Picross 2. Nintendo re-released Mario’s Picross on the Nintendo DS Virtual Console in 2011. Now, it’s available to play on Nintendo Switch via Nintendo Switch Online.

Nintendo Switch Online costs $19 per year for a subscription, which comes with a package of Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and Game Boy games. The more expensive Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack adds in a bunch of other stuff, like a lineup of games for Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance. There’s a whole bunch of games available for both subscriptions, and Nintendo keeps adding more.

However, in February, Nintendo announced it’s removing one game from the service for the first time. Super Formation Soccer will be removed in Japan next month on March 28. It’s unclear at this time whether the game will be removed from just the Japanese service, or if North American and European subscribers will see the game disappear, too.
