Developer Bad Guitar Studio has announced that it has delayed the PS5 and Xbox releases of Fragpunk due to technical difficulties, though the PC version will still launch tomorrow, March 6. A new release date for the console versions has not been revealed.
“During the console compliance testing process, we encountered unexpected technical challenges in optimization and adaption,” the team said in a statement. “Rather than rushing the console release and providing a potentially poor user experience, we have made the difficult decision to delay the launch of the console versions to ensure that players receive a comparable experience to those on PC.”
As consolation, players will receive all rewards gained through engagement from the start of Season 1 until the console versions go live. These include in-game currency, cosmetics, and experience.
As a result of the delay, the studio has to cancel and refund all preorders on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S due to their platform policies. Those who’ve already preorder will also receive $10 worth of in-game currency when the console versions launch.
There are also no longer any preorder bonuses for the console versions either, but the bundle will be available in a limited-time capacity when they’re released.
Fragpunk is a free-to-play new hero shooter that utilizes a card system with various abilities. The card selection changes every round and can be mixed and matched to create some wild combinations. For example, there are cards that can increase your jump height, engulf your bullets in flame, and resurrect your allies.
Bad Guitar Studio is also a subsidiary of NetEase, which has been mired in controversy lately. NetEase is reportedly trying to sell off its non-Chinese studio but the company claims it’s still committed to its overseas studios.
