Is it wise to allow Junjiro to remain in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Early in the main story of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ll be tasked with a choice: Should you let the young Junjiro stay in your Hideout or should you tell him to scram? Are there ramifications of kicking this young boy out, leaving him to the wolves? Is this that type of game?

Below we answer your query on whether or not you should let Junjiro stay at your Hideout in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. That said, very light spoilers are ahead.

Should you let Junjiro stay at your Hideout?

Not to burst your bubble or shatter your immersion, but your choice doesn’t actually matter.

So no, you can’t actually kick Junjiro out. He’s here to stay, whether you want him to or not. A hideout probably isn’t a safe space for a little kid to hang out, but neither is the wilderness with no adult supervision in Sengoku era Japan. Anticlimactic, we know, but that’s just how it is.

If you’re playing with canon mode — an optional setting that removes all dialogue options and choices — turned on, Junjiro will stay in your hideout as well. While we haven’t tinkered with every single branching choice in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we’ve found that many choices like this are often presented as a “choice” but are really just an illusion of choice.
