While the Looney Tunes have been around forever, its quirky cast of characters had never received a fully animated feature-length film. That all changed last year with the release of The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, which earned excellent reviews from critics and is coming to Blu-ray on May 27. Preorders are now steeply discounted at Amazon and Walmart, making this the ideal time to reserve a copy.
$17 (was $27) | Releases May 27
This matches the lowest price ever for The Day the Earth Blew Up, and it’s unlikely it’ll go any lower before release. If it does, preordering makes you eligible for any additional discounts, and you won’t pay until the item ships. You’ll also find a DVD version of The Day the Earth Blew Up, but because of the recent discount, the Blu-ray is more affordable.
The Day the Earth Blew Up Bonus Features
It’s unclear if the Blu-ray includes any bonus features–behind the hand-drawn animated film, no bonus features are mentioned in the product listing. We’ll update this section if anything is revealed between now and May 27.
A bunch of other Looney Tunes animations are available on Blu-ray, including the Looney Tunes Collector’s Choice: Vol. 1-4 set that launched in late 2024. The four-disc collection gets you over 600 minutes of classic cartoons, making it an excellent way to relive the best Looney Tunes adventures. It’s the best value of the bunch, but there are still plenty of others to peruse. We also included a few DVDs if you’re looking for something even more affordable.
