StarCraft Miniatures Game Set to Launch in 2026, Followed by Board Game Releases

It may not be a new StarCraft video game, but a tabletop miniatures game set in the StarCraft universe will release in 2026, Polish game publisher Archon Studio has announced. The game will let players command armies based on the three factions from developer Blizzard’s iconic sci-fi RTS series–the Terran, Zerg, and Protoss.

Details on game mechanics are currently light, but the StarCraft miniatures game will involve “dynamic, tactical battles” that Archon says will stay true to the “essence” of the video games.

“The game will feature high-quality miniatures, rich gameplay mechanics, and deep faction customization, ensuring an experience that both StarCraft veterans and tabletop wargamers will love,” Archon said.

In addition to the miniatures game, Archon additionally announced it is also working on multiple board games set in the StarCraft universe. Those will arrive in 2027.

“As huge fans of StarCraft, we’ve spent countless hours playing this game,” said Jarek Ewertowski, CEO of Archon Studio in the announcement blog post. “In fact, the history of Archon Studio is closely linked to StarCraft. It’s an honor to bring this universe to the tabletop as a miniatures game.”

More information about the StarCraft miniatures game will be given during an Archon Studio livestream on April 3. A more detailed preview of the minis themselves (a few of which you can see above) and gameplay mechanics will be revealed later this year.

StarCraft is just the latest iconic video game series to get the minis treatment, joining the likes of Halo: Flashpoint and Fallout: Factions, both of which released in 2024.

Blizzard’s sci-fi IP may be largely dormant these days (StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void, the last major game release in the series, released a decade ago in 2015), but the heroes of StarCraft did recently cross over with Blizzard’s card game Hearthstone.
