Lethal Weapon hit theaters over three decades ago, and to this day, it’s still considered one of the most iconic action movies ever made. Starring Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, and Gary Busey, the film was a box office success during its run, pulling in over $120 million worldwide. Fans who want to relive the action can now preorder two upcoming 4K Steelbook Editions of the movie. The Lethal Weapon 4K Steelbook Collector’s Edition launches on July 11 for $75, while a separate Lethal Weapon 4K Steelbook Edition is launching for $35. Amazon doesn’t mention a release date for the $35 version, though some outlets list April 29 as its anticipated launch. These mark the first time the original Lethal Weapon has been available on 4K Blu-ray and include some neat extras.

The Lethal Weapon 4K Steelbook includes 4K Blu-ray and digital formats of the original film. You’ll also get a vibrant red steelbook to protect the disc when not in use. Details about everything packed into the bundle are still scarce, but we’d expect to see a few bonus features included as well.
Lethal Weapon 4K Steelbook Bonus Features
The official list of bonus features for this premium Lethal Weapon 4K Steelbook has yet to be revealed, but it’ll likely include content similar to that found in the Lethal Weapon Collection Blu-ray. This includes deleted scenes, theatrical trailers, and other featurettes.
Preordering these new Lethal Weapon 4K Steelbook Editions at Amazon means you won’t pay until your order ships, and if the price drops between now and release, you’ll only pay the lowest price.
While this upcoming version of Lethal Weapon will likely be the best way to enjoy the action flick on modern screens, there are plenty of older editions up for grabs. The Lethal Weapon Collection mentioned above gets you Blu-ray versions of all four films, and it’s just $28. You could also check out Lethal Weapon on Prime Video, which is available to rent for $4.
Lethal Weapon follows two Los Angeles detectives as they investigate a criminal drug ring. A veteran detective (Danny Glover) is paired with a wild rookie (Mel Gibson), and the two will need to look beyond their differences if they’re hoping to survive their mission. To make matters more complicated, the young detective has a mental illness related to his time in Vietnam and his wife’s recent passing. It’s an intense film, and one that has spawned multiple sequels and remains a classic to this day.
