The Last of Us Season 2 finally has a confirmed release date, and it’s set to debut on April 13. Ahead of that, one of the actors who joined the cast for Season 2, Danny Ramirez, has spoken up to hype the sophomore season.
Ramirez, who plays Manny, told Empire that he recently saw some clips of Season 2 and has a warning for fans: “It’s gonna f**k people up. It’ so good.”
That’s all he had to say about Season 2. Given that Season 2 adapts at least some of the events of The Last of Us: Part II, Ramirez could be referring to any number of dramatic events that are expected to be featured on the show. Anyone who has played the game or knows the story understands what’s coming.
Manny the character is a friend of Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) and plays a major role in how the story unfolds.
The Last of Us Season 2 debuts April 13 and will have seven episodes in all, debuting Sundays. Assuming one episode releases each Sunday, Season 2 will wrap up on May 25.
Season 2 picks up five years after the events of the first season, with Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) “drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”
In addition to Ramirez, Pascal, Ramsey, and Dever, Season 2 features Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Rutina Wesley as Maria, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Own, and Jeffrey Wright reprising his role from the game as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara will appear in an unannounced guest star role.
Season 1 showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann return from Season 1. Recently, Mazin said he expects that Season 2 will elicit “furor” from fans over some of the changes the team made from the game.
As for the game series, The Last of Us Part II Remastered comes to PC on April 3, just before Season 2 of the show debuts. Developer Naughty Dog is also working on a new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and possibly The Last of Us 3. A multiplayer game, The Last of Us Online, was in development, but it was ultimately canceled.
