Transformers: Reactivate Canceled – GameSpot

Transformers: Reactivate, a multiplayer online action game from Splash Damage, has been canceled. The British studio announced the news on social media, saying the game’s cancellation also means some staffers are now “potentially at the risk of redundancy.”

“This decision did not come lightly, and it is a difficult time for the studio and our people,” Splash Damage said, noting that Hasbro was an “incredible and supportive partner” during development.

Splash Damage did not say why Transformers: Reactivate was canceled, however. It said not being able to launch the game is “painful” but saying goodbye to colleagues “hurts even more.”

Splash Damage is owned by Leyou, a former Chinese chicken supplier now owned by Tencent. Splash Damage has worked with numerous high-profile partners over the years, including Activision (Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory), Bethesda (Brink), Warner Bros. (Batman: Arkham Origins multiplayer), and Xbox (Gears of War multiplayer modes).

While Transformers: Reactivate is now canceled, Splash Damage continues to work on a AAA open-world survival game under the codename Project Astrid. Splash Damage is building the game with the popular content creators shroud and Sacriel.
